On Friday 6th September the Queen’s Club hosted the second annual Queen’s Club Foundation City Tennis Tournament, with squash also added this year. We welcomed teams from 8 city companies this year, with each determined to bring the trophy back to their office.
The competition was fierce throughout with some fantastic skill on display on the tennis and squash courts. However, this did not stop the players and spectators enjoying their court-side refreshments! After a couple hours of fierce competition Brown Advisory reigned supreme in the Tennis, while Goldman Sachs conquered all before them in the Squash.
With the competition over the players were able to relax and enjoy dinner in The President’s Room, and finish the evening with a highly anticipated auction. The Foundation was delighted to have Jon Pitts, an expert in elite performance, as a guest speaker for the evening. The room was transfixed on hearing about what it takes to compete at the highest level and under the most extreme pressure.
We are pleased to share with you that the Foundation raised a fantastic £14,000 from the tennis and squash tournaments and dinner, with just over £8000 from the live auction held on the night.
A big thank you to all the teams who joined us for the evening; our guest speaker Jon Pitts for his fantastic insight into high performance; our wonderful auctioneer Eugenio Donadonio, from Christies, who controlled the room; and the QCF Fundraising Committee, in particular Vanessa Neill, for organising the day.
The evening would not have been so successful without the generous support of our auction donors; Coworth Park, Holland and Holland, Howard Cramer, Jon Pitts, Mikhail Ignatiev, Stoke Park Golf Club and The Queen’s Club.
The tournament shall be returning on Thursday 17th September. If you would be interested in entering a team this year please contact James Moulder and Jessica Oldham: email@example.com
