OUR COMMUNITY CLUBS

We currently deliver several Community Clubs, which enable as many children as possible locally to participate in the sports, whatever their background or circumstances.  We work closely with the sports development team at London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham to assist us to identify specific groups of those in need and also the best venues for delivery of our coaching.

Community Clubs

At 2 park sites, local to The Queen’s Club, Bishops’ Park and Brook Green we offer 6 week blocks of beginners’ coaching to children in primary school years 2 and 3.  We provide all equipment and the children experience a fun, comprehensive and free introduction to the sport with our LTA qualified coaching team.  We also have an advanced Club which takes place at the The Queen’s Club on Sundays.

LTA Youth Start Courses

Following the initial 6 weeks of coaching, we work together with local tennis providers to set up LTA Youth Start courses where children who have completed the 6 weeks free sessions are invited to sign up to a subsidised LTA course of a further 6 weeks of tennis.  This course comes with a racket, balls and T-shirt included within the price.

Festivals

Everyone who has completed one of our free introductory courses automatically becomes a member of our Community Club.  They are then invited back to certain festivals throughout the year which are held at The Queen’s Club.  These festivals might be family sessions, fun games days or festival team challenge events. We often invite National junior players to compete at these events as an inspiration for the members of the Community Club and their families. These are enormously popular and many of our children come back again and again to the festivals.

Community Club Awards

We recognise that tennis is an expensive sport and that to continue to participate, there may be some costs for items such as trainers, rackets, kit or group lessons which mean that the sport is inaccessible for some.  We are here to support children who have begun their tennis journey but whose circumstances may mean that they need extra financial help to be able to continue via our community award scheme.

SQUASH

Our squash Community Club is currently delivered at The Queen’s Club.  We invite children from 4 local primary schools into The Club for weekly sessions throughout the year. For those schools who cannot come weekly, we can also run one-off squash festivals so children can come and experience squash and sometimes also Real Tennis at The Club.

We also work closely with Hammersmith & Fulham Council to identify opportunities for local children to access and compete within the sport.
