The Queen’s Club Foundation was very excited in October 2019 to launch its Community Tennis Club hosted at The Queen’s Club for local children within Hammersmith and Fulham. After a promising start to life, the sessions unfortunately had to cease in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, after the hard work of all the healthcare workers around the country had helped to stem the flow of the virus, The Queen’s Club Foundation was delighted to be able to restart the Community Club in May of this year.
With 2 new coaches leading the sessions, John and Laura, and a new venue, Normand Park, due to the Queen’s Tennis Tournament, the families and Foundation were delighted to have the sessions back once more.
“The kids are so excited to have the community club back.”
“Thank you so much for restarting the sessions, Emma is delighted to have tennis back in her life.”
Aimed at providing children aged between 7-11 with the opportunity to have free weekly tennis sessions, the Foundation was thrilled to have 27 children attend each week over the course of the 9-week term. The feedback from the coaches emphasised the positive attitude of all of the participants, and their desire to constantly improve.
It is the ambition of The Queen’s Club Foundation to try and offer every child within Hammersmith and Fulham the opportunity to try tennis for free. Therefore, plans are underway for the expansion of the Community Tennis Club ahead of the new school year in September.
