With 48 entries, five tennis tables, and free-flowing beer, our Inaugural Table Tennis Tournament on Saturday 3rd February was a fantastic success.
Those who attended dressed to impress in 80s sporting gear, listened to 80s tunes all day and took part in Doubles and Singles Tournaments in The President’s Room.
A huge thanks goes to our sponsors Signal Beer who very kindly donated the free-flowing beer throughout the day, and also to Playbrave who donated some wonderful prizes for the winners of the Singles and the Doubles games.
There was a great atmosphere in The President’s Room throughout the day with many spectators coming to see what was going on. The event definitely led to more awareness about what The Queen’s Club Foundation does and why it is important as members and staff came to see the excitement and learn that it was all for charity.
Many thanks to all those that took part in the day and congratulations to our finalists!
Singles: Winner – Mike Bailey, Runner Up – Jerry Ezekiel
Doubles: Winners – The Sutch Brothers, Runners Up – Ella Gaskell and Alastair Dean
The event raised over £1500 for The Queen’s Club Foundation. This money will go towards grants and projects, mainly to encourage young people to get involved in the four rackets sports that The Queen’s Club is known for: tennis, rackets, squash and real tennis.
After such a fun and successful fundraising day, we are hoping to hold the event again next February. Keep an eye on our Facebook for details closer to the time.
