The Queen’s Club Foundation (QCF), in partnership with Surrey LTA, the LTA, and The Wimbledon Club, is pleased to announce the installation of a new on-site storage facility to support its weekly junior wheelchair tennis session at The Wimbledon Club.
The session forms part of the Queen’s Club Foundation’s Inclusive Player Pathway (IPP) - a five-year programme dedicated to expanding opportunities for disabled children and young people across London. The IPP is generously funded by Queen’s Club member Aditya Mittal, whose support is helping to create more inclusive, accessible pathways into tennis for those who may otherwise face barriers to participation.
The newly installed storage unit will house the sports wheelchairs provided by QCF with the support of the Dan Maskell Tennis Trust, ensuring they are readily available for participants at every session. This development represents a significant enhancement to the programme, offering children consistent access to specialist equipment and enabling them to fully engage in coaching and match play in a safe, supportive environment.
By removing logistical challenges around transporting and storing wheelchairs, the facility allows sessions to run more smoothly and ensures that players can focus on enjoying the game, developing their skills, and building confidence on court.
E. Nicolas, Tennis Director at The Wimbledon Club, commented:“We are delighted to continue developing our partnership with the Queen’s Club Foundation and investing in a high-quality infrastructure that allows us to welcome more players under the best possible coaching conditions. Financed by the Queen’s Club Foundation, the Surrey LTA Open Court funding, the LTA Open Court program, and The Wimbledon Club, our new storage facility enables all players to benefit from the latest, top-of-the-range wheelchair equipment.”
This collaborative investment highlights a shared commitment across organisations to growing inclusive tennis and ensuring that more young players in Surrey have the opportunity to access and enjoy the sport.
The Queen’s Club Foundation remains dedicated to expanding its Inclusive Player Pathway, working with partners to provide meaningful, long-term opportunities into tennis for players of all abilities.
