The Queen’s Club Foundation is delighted to announce that Georgina Kennedy has agreed to join the QCF’s team of Ambassadors as its first squash ambassador.
Georgina (Gina) is a professional squash player from Beckenham, London. After graduating from Harvard university in 2020, she joined the PSA Squash Tour and climbed from 184 in the world to the top 10 in just under a year. In 2022, she won a Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and since then she has achieved a highest world ranking of number 5.
The QCF as part of its outreach delivery in all the racket sports played at Queen’s, offers free weekly squash classes for children in the local community, including inclusive classes for children with special educational needs and disabilities. In the last year alone, The QCF has worked with over 220 local children and young people in squash offering free weekly classes to improve lives through racket sports. As well as delivering a local inter-schools squash competition it has also (thanks to its squash charity partner, Squash Squared headed up by Stacey Ross, former professional squash player), arranged an inspirational visit to the Optasia Squash Championships
Gina said: “I am so looking forward to supporting The QCF. The mission of the Foundation to give everyone the opportunity to play racket sports, regardless of their background, is incredibly important, and I am honoured to be an ambassador for the Foundation. I hope that we can continue to help change lives through giving people access to racket sports and I am very excited to work closely with the Foundation to get more people involved in squash!”
Kate Maurici, Head of Foundation, said: “I am delighted Gina has agreed to lend her support to The QCF. Squash, and in particular increasing the number of girls accessing the sport, is a hugely important part of our community outreach programme. We have plans to expand our squash outreach programme this year to reach more children in underserved communities through the sport. Gina’s incredible achievements as a player and her down to earth desire to help others into the sport, who might not otherwise have access to it, make this an exciting collaboration for the QCF and one which we are looking forward to developing.”
