We are thrilled to celebrate St Augustine’s CE Primary School, recently named Middlesex Tennis School of the Year, an achievement that reflects the remarkable growth of tennis within their community and the strength of their three‑year partnership with the Queen’s Club Foundation. From the very beginning, St Augustine’s recognised the potential that tennis could bring to their pupils, embracing every opportunity available and embedding the sport into the daily life of the school.

As a small, diverse primary school situated just a short walk from the Queen’s Club, St Augustine’s has been uniquely positioned to take full advantage of the partnership. Pupils have enjoyed regular coaching on world‑class courts, developing confidence, resilience, and a genuine enthusiasm for the game. Staff have also played a key role in growing tennis at the school, with one teacher completing cardio‑tennis training that enabled the launch of girls’ tennis sessions, helping ensure that every pupil feels welcome and represented on court.

Some of the most memorable moments from the partnership came during the school’s annual tennis week. A visit from WTA star Amanda Anisimova gave Key Stage 2 girls an inspiring session they still talk about, so much so that they chose to name their own school championship after her. Pupils also had the opportunity to attend the opening day of the HSBC Championship, a day made even more special when a Year 5 pupil stepped onto the Andy Murray Arena to perform the official coin toss.

The Foundation has also supported individual player development, with two pupils earning scholarships onto the Queen’s Club Junior Squash Programme. Former pupil Leo Charlesworth‑Mark continues to be a standout example of what inclusive pathways can achieve, progressing with confidence as a wheelchair tennis player and inspiring younger pupils with his determination.

This award is a testament to St Augustine’s commitment to opportunity, inclusion, and wholehearted participation. Their enthusiasm for tennis, combined with their willingness to embrace new experiences, has created meaningful and lasting impact for their pupils. We are immensely proud of everything they have achieved and honoured to have played a part in their journey.

We look forward to continuing our work together and to seeing even more young people discover the joy and possibility that tennis can bring.
